Korean Hanbok Illustrations
My LOVE FOR HANBOK...
...grew over the three years I've now been living in Korea. While I found the colors a bit clashing in the beginning, I now appreciate the subtle differences in what colors go together, their meanings and how the designs can go from bright and fun to sophisticated.
After a trip to Jeonju and its traditional hanok village, where a lot of visitors rent out Hanbok for a day and transform the old-town into a colorful reenactment of the past (with the addition of selfies, of course), I drew these six ladies wearing Hanbok. The designs are inspired by different epochs of Korean history, different classes - from queens to gisaengs - and some of my favorites like the rainbow sleeves.
The stickers made from those illustrations are on my Etsy Shop 'evydraws'.
